Increase in FEE-HELP loan fee for undergraduate students

On 2 November 2009, the Australian Government announced that, subject to the passage of legislation, the FEE-HELP loan fee will increase from 20 per cent to 25 per cent for undergraduate students enrolled in units of study with a census date on or after 1 July 2010.

Changes to HELP repayments and maximum student contribution amounts for education and nursing

In the 2009 Budget, the Australian Government announced that students who graduate from an eligible education or nursing course of study from second semester 2009 onwards will be able to apply for a reduction in their compulsory HELP repayment if they work as a teacher or nurse.

From 1 January 2010 the maximum annual student contribution amount (previously called HECS) for commencing students undertaking education and nursing units of study will be increased from the 'national priority' rate to the band 1 rate.

Changes to the OS-HELP loan fee

There will be NO loan fee on any OS-HELP loans with a debt incurral date on or after 1 January 2010. Find out more here.
