About the University of Canberra

The University of CanberraYou are now leaving Going to Uni aims to provide the highest level of professional undergraduate education in Australia.

It educates students for approximately 30 different professions, among them information technology, management, law, accounting, teaching, marketing, journalism, design, architecture, medical science, psychology, nursing, environmental science and sports studies. UC has one of the highest employment rates for graduates among Australian universities.

About 60 percent of the current student population is aged under 25 years, and 55 percent of the enrolments are women. Approximately 37 per cent study part-time, while around 20 percent are enrolled in postgraduate courses.

The University campus has an innovative, dynamic and friendly atmosphere. Students occupy modern and well-equipped lecture theatres and receive personal attention in small tutorial groups. They are also able to combine their studies with a wide range of activities organised either by the Student Union or members of the Canberra community. The many student clubs and societies on campus include movies, outdoors, athletics, cycling, triathlon, hockey, netball, roller blading, rowing, rugby, scuba diving, skiing, soccer, volleyball, windsurfing and international student groups.

Based in Australia’s National Capital, the University occupies a site of almost 120 hectares in the suburb of Bruce, about eight kilometres north-west of the central business district. The Bruce precinct includes a technology park, the Australian Institute of Sport, a campus of the Canberra Institute of Technology, a major hospital and several government departments.
