The University of Canberra
, Australia’s Capital University is committed to the Australian Capital Territory and the surrounding region.
The University is well known for practicality in teaching and a focus on work integrated learning, giving students access to professional skills, networks and internships that make them highly employable.
The University educates both undergraduate and postgraduate students in many of the professions including teaching, information technology, business, law, health, communications, design and sciences.
The University of Canberra conducts research across a broad spectrum including ecology, biometrics, customs and excise, economic modelling, forensics, governance and urban planning. Researchers engage and work closely with business and government to find real life solutions to current world challenges.
With more than 8000 full time students from over 80 countries, the University offers a diverse campus life both academically and socially. The campus has state of the art facilities for student learning including the recently built $12 million Allied Health building and new National Media Centre. There are also a wide range of amenities to help students maintain their wellbeing and social life, including health and counselling services, cafes and shops and a sports and fitness centre.
Number of Available Higher Education Places
In semester 1 2009, the University of Canberra had 1887.2 full time equivalent postgraduate and 6210.6 full time equivalent undergraduate students. Of these, 996 postgraduate and 5363 undergraduate students were Commonwealth Supported.
National Priority Places
The University of Canberra educates in three national priority disciplines, Nursing, Midwifery and Teaching Education. These disciplines are covered by many degrees in both undergraduate and postgraduate studies.

Entrance Requirements
The University of Canberra has a range of entry points for prospective students. School leavers can apply using their UAI through UAC. Students with a UAI above 75 will receive direct entry into the University of Canberra. School leavers with a UAI below 75 will receive a packaged offer to the University of Canberra which will include one of our comprehensive support or preparations programs.
Non school leavers and postgraduate students can apply direct to the University. The University of Canberra will take into consideration prior learnng and work experience.
