About the University of New South Wales
The University of New South Wales (UNSW)
is one of Australia's premier universities, highly regarded for its teaching excellence and research innovation. A leading international education provider, it has one of the largest on-campus enrolments of international students in the world, with students from more than 130 countries in a total undergraduate and postgraduate population of approximately 40,000.
To cater for this dynamic student body, the University offers a wide range of programs, including more than 90 combined degree programs. These are supported by innovative teaching, excellent student services and facilities, international exchange opportunities and research facilities of the highest order.
The main campus of 38 hectares is situated in Kensington, an inner south-eastern suburb of Sydney – within 15 minutes of the city and the famous beaches. Other campuses are The College of Fine Arts, in cosmopolitan inner-city Paddington, and UNSW@ADFA, within the Australian Defence Force Academy in the ACT.
UNSW has more than 200 partnerships with universities around the world and has academic linkages with leading institutions in Asia, Europe and North America. A comprehensive research-intensive university, it has gained international recognition in a number of fields, including quantum computing, photovoltaics and many areas of medical research.
UNSW is a member of the Group of Eight, a consortium of Australia's leading research universities and a member of Universitas 21, an international alliance of leading universities in 10 countries.
