About Australian Academy of Design
The Australian Academy of Design
is an independent institution established to meet the demand for innovative education programs in creative, design-based studies.
The Academy offers Bachelor degree level courses, with major study streams in:
- Advertising
- Fashion Design
- Graphic Design
- Photo Media
- Visual Arts
Located in Port Melbourne, the Academy has a reputation for producing high quality, industry-ready creative art and design professionals.
Some advantages of undertaking your design degree at the Academy include:
- Small class sizes, with a maximum of 16 students per tutorial means more individualised attention.
- The Academy conducts a 32-week academic year which means that on graduation students have completed the equivalent of a 4 year course in 3 years.
- The Academy has purpose-built studios, theatre, computer labs and an exhibition gallery that houses regular exhibitions of professional artists, illustrators, designers and graduating students.

Academic Structure
The Academic Board manages the Academy courses on behalf of the Senate. The Academic Board has the following standing committees:

Minimum Entrance Requirements
Minimum Entrance Requirements for Domestic students
Domestic students who have successfully completed the Victorian VCE or equivalent are eligible to be considered for admission. Successful completion of the requirements for art, media, arts, studio arts and/or graphic communication or visual communication and design will be an advantage. Non-year 12 applicants who don't meet the requirements but have professional experience in the field applied for or in related fields are also encourage to apply (through VTAC).
