The Australian College of Applied Psychology You are now leaving Going to UniIf you are interested in pursuing a career as a counsellor, a community services professional, or you wish to focus on coaching, people management or work in human resources, the Australian College of Applied Psychology (ACAP) is the place for you.With over 26 years experience, ACAP specialises in providing accredited courses in applied psychology which is the study and application of how people interact and what motivates their actions. Offering courses in counselling, coaching and people management, ACAP can provide you with the opportunity to:
  • develop your skills;
  • increase your knowledge; and,
  • gain a relevant, practical qualification that can be applied across a range of professions and industries. 
  • As an ACAP student you:
  • can study on-campus in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne, by flexible delivery or in a mix of modes**;
  • will study in classes with an average of no more than 20 students when you study on campus, giving you the opportunity to get to know your fellow students and your educators;
  • undertake a student placement (unpaid work experience) as part of the requirements of your qualification* - meaning you’ll have experience on your CV before you graduate; and
  • have the ability to start with a Bachelors degree and work your way up to a Masters!

**Not all courses are offered in all modes or at all campus locations – please check the ACAP website for details.

* Student placements form a part of the Bachelor of Applied Social Science and Graduate Diploma of Counselling courses.

ACAP is recognised as a Higher Education provider that meets government and industry standards.

Scholarship Information


ACAP offers three scholarships each year to assist students from low socio-economic backgrounds (who are Australian citizens or holders of permanent humanitarian visas) with the cost of their course fees. The scholarship awardees receive every second module at no cost, for the duration of their course (i.e. 50% of all module fees are covered by the scholarship).

There are three scholarships available:
Two for students starting the Bachelor of Applied Social Science (Counselling):

  • The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander (ATSI) Scholarship; and, 
  • The Alan Rowe Scholarship

And one for students starting the Graduate Diploma of Counselling:

  • The Nora Huppert Scholarship
