About Avondale College
Avondale College
is a private provider of Christian higher education, offering a broad range of undergraduate, postgraduate and vocational education (VET) courses. Established in 1897, Avondale operates on two campuses, Lake Macquarie (NSW Central Coast), and Sydney (Wahroonga).
Avondale offers undergraduate degrees in Arts, Business, Science, Education, Nursing, and Theology. Postgraduate studies to Masters level are available in Education, Leadership and Management, Nursing, Theology and Ministry. Avondale College offers four postgraduate courses by research only. Three are research masters degrees: the Master of Theology (Research) the Master of Nursing (Research) and the Master of Education (Research); and a Doctor of Philosophy. The College also offers vocational education courses in Aviation, Business and Outdoor Recreation.
Avondale belongs to the international network of higher education institutions of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and welcomes all students who desire higher education in a Christian context. Students come from all states of Australia and from overseas. About half the undergraduate students live in residence halls on campus and take advantage of the social, intellectual, sporting and spiritual activities available. Avondale is a caring community, and its student:staff ratio (13) means that students have ready access to lecturers and support services.
Avondale is proud of its educational quality. For the past five years Avondale has been awarded a five star rating by The Good Universities Guide for graduates’ satisfaction with their educational experience. Avondale graduates are widely sought by employers, and many have progressed to master and doctoral degrees at Australian and overseas universities with an outstanding record of achievement.
