About the Holmes Institute

Holmes InstituteYou are now leaving Going to Uni is a private teaching institute founded in 1963. The Institute has specialized in business education since that time and has a broad clientele. Holmes offers programs in Management, Marketing, Accounting, International Trade, Hospitality and Tourism.  Holmes Institute offers a Bachelor of Business degree in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. FEE-HELP is available in each of these locations for the Bachelor of Business degree.

The Holmes Bachelor of Business was developed in 2003 and accredited by the Victorian Department of Education and Training in 2004. More recently, Holmes' Bachelor of Business has been accredited by the Queensland Department of Education and the New South Wales Department of Education and Training. It is a modern programme with three major streams in management, marketing and international business. There is a focus on developing career related capabilities with emphasis on business numeracy and literacy, managerial proficiency, the new economy, leadership, entrepreneurship and social responsibility and ethics. Teaching is by critical analysis and case study methods and students sit for a combination of exams (40%) case studies (20%) and company analysis (20%).

Holmes Institute welcomes students transferring from the TAFE sector into higher education and offers up to 50% credit transfer towards the Bachelor of Business degree. A normal TAFE diploma will usually be granted 8 subjects credit, amounting to one third of the degree.

The Bachelor of Business may be taken in fast-track mode. The degree is taught over three trimesters per year and fast-track students may gain the qualification in 2 years. Alternatively, students can opt for the semester system and take 3 years to complete the bachelor’s degree.

In Melbourne, Holmes is located in Spring Street, right opposite Parliament House at the top end of Little Bourke Street. The campus has modern facilities and students can access all the reference materials for the BBus in the Resource Centre on Level 1.

In Brisbane, Holmes is located in Herschel St, right on the Brisbane River and within walking distance of the central business district. The campus was established in 2002 and all reference materials for the BBus are available in the resource centre.

In Sydney, Holmes is located on York Street, just 300 metres from the Queen Victoria Building. The campus occupies 6 levels in a modern office complex and has a comprehensive collection of business references in the library on Level 10.
