About the Marcus Oldham College
Marcus Oldham College
is Australia’s leading rural business management college with a national and international reputation for providing quality education. Being independent allows our courses to be developed in close consultation with industry, which ensures our curriculum is relevant to the needs of both our students and industry.
Our emphasis on business management provides skills that are readily transferable across a wide range of careers, resulting in highly employable graduates who are at the leading edge of their chosen fields.
Marcus Oldham College operates three courses in the higher education sector:
- Bachelor of Business (Agricultural Management) with exit point at Advanced Diploma in Farm Business Management
- Bachelor of Business (Agribusiness) with exit points at Diploma and Associate Degree levels.
- Diploma of Horse Business Management
The objective of the Bachelor of Business (Agricultural Management) course is to prepare graduates with the skills and knowledge to undertake careers as leading rural business managers, whether on-farm or in the ever expanding range of agriculture related careers off-farm.
The objective of the Bachelor of Business (Agribusiness) course is to prepare graduates for marketing and management roles in agribusiness organisations that provide inputs and services to agricultural industries. These include marketing farm outputs, rural financial institutions, agricultural lobby groups, research and development, consultants, exporters, rural media and agribusiness merchants.
The objective of the one year Diploma of Horse Business Management is to provide students who have a strong interest in the horse industry, with the business skills, practical skills and equine science/horse husbandry knowledge necessary for a successful career in their chosen area of the horse industry.
All programs offer students a unique course structure that features on-campus tuition, industry placement and a period of flexible external study. Agricultural and Agribusiness students are required to have at least one year’s industry experience in a farm or agribusiness position before commencing their course of study. This pre-entry requirement increases the competency levels of students and gives them an opportunity to observe management skills, production and decision making techniques.
Students studying the equine course may come directly after successfully completing Year 12 or equivalent, however, pre-entry industry experience is recommended. They must be at least 18 years of age at 1st February of their year of entry.
All programs also ensure students are in regular contact with relevant industries through Industry Placements and site visits. Upon graduation, Marcus Oldham graduates have relevant practical experience together with formal qualifications.
All courses are eligible for FEE-HELP and the college provides on-campus accommodation.
