About the Melbourne College of Divinity
The Melbourne College of Divinity (MCD)
offers academically rigorous degrees in theology and ministry. These give opportunities for study in depth of the Bible and the Christian tradition, and their contemporary interaction with the issues and faiths of today’s world.
The College is committed to
- quality in teaching and research
- the understanding of faith in secular contexts
- the integrity of the Christian churches.
The MCD was constituted by an Act of the Victorian Parliament in 1910 – it is the second oldest self-regulating Higher Education Provider in Victoria, and the sixth oldest in Australia. Today it embraces colleges of the Anglican, Baptist, Churches of Christ, Roman Catholic, The Salvation Army and Uniting churches, with students coming from other traditions as well. MCD degrees and diplomas are taught at these campuses:
Students at these campuses enjoy small classes, supportive learning environments, personal engagement with academic staff and excellent library support.
MCD courses range from diploma study to doctoral research, with the Bachelor of Theology (three years) as the core undergraduate degree. The College is affiliated with the University of Melbourne, whose Arts students can include MCD units as part of their BA. Joint BA/BTheol degrees are offered by the MCD with the University of Melbourne and Monash University.
FEE-HELP is available to all eligible MCD students.
