About Moore College

Moore College You are now leaving Going to Unioffers an education in Christian theology and related disciplines, designed to prepare candidates for Christian ministry, both ordained and lay.

Except for Years 2, 3 & 4 of BD (& BTh), enrolment in all courses may be part-time or full-time.

The management and control of the College is vested by the Synod of the Anglican Diocese of Sydney in the Moore College Governing Board. The ethos of the College supports the reformed and evangelical character of the Diocese of Sydney.

The College aims to foster the knowledge, skills and attitudes/attributes appropriate to the task of Christian ministry.  Graduates of the College should possess:

  • Basic knowledge - an understanding of God’s revelation;
  • Basic skill  - that of the good teacher, who is able to facilitate learning and who offers a deep pastoral and evangelistic concern for those in his care; and
  • Basic attitude - a love which expresses itself in service and prayer.
  • Students are part of a living community which is both a Christian family and an academic fellowship.  In keeping with the subject matter of the courses, much attention is paid to the spiritual context of education and regular chapel services are central to the College’s life.

Learning takes place in and out of the classroom as faculty and students relate to each other.  Discussion, encounter and role model are important.  Every student belongs to a pastoral group which supports growth in Christian character to equip them for the proper exercise of ministry.
