About Oceania Polytechnic Institute of Education
Oceania Polytechnic Institute of Education (OPIE)
is a progressive private tertiary institution in Melbourne, dedicated to teaching excellence in Fine Arts, Architecture and Design. It was founded in 1988 with the aim of producing graduates who will excel in their selected profession.
The uniquely structured courses, internationally qualified teaching staff and individual attention given to each student provide a creative environment of the highest standard. The OPIE courses are designed to equip graduates with academic knowledge combined with skills in the practical approach to innovative design and proficiency in current technological practices.
The teaching staff are highly qualified professionals, academics and practitioners with teaching experience in universities and tertiary institution in Australia and overseas. This, coupled with low student/teaching-staff ratios allows coursework to be conducted in friendly and fertile studio environments which promote inquiry, creativity and teach skills essential to successful practice.
OPIE is located within the Melbourne CBD, in close proximity to public transport, the State Library, Melbourne Central, cafes, stationery shops, health clubs, student accommodation and many more facilities. Students will benefit from tours to building sites and staff practices. As a result, OPIE offers students the opportunity to enjoy studying and obtain a professional qualification.

Scholarship Information
OPIE Scholarship Program
OPIE offers a scholarship program to full-time students. There are two categories for scholarship applications.
Academic Excellence–where a student demonstrates outstanding achievement at VCE level or an extracurricular activity related to the course.
Disadvantaged Students–who in the opinion of the OPIE Academic Council demonstrate a high standard of suitability to the industry, but lack the necessary financial capacity to undertake the course.
A specific number of scholarships will be issued each year, students should note on their OPIE Application form that they wish to apply and should contact OPIE for further information relating to scholarship application requirements and closing dates.
