About the Australian Institute of Music
The Australian Institute of Music
has been training people for success in the music industry since 1968. We are a centre of excellence for performance, audio engineering and arts management with an outstanding record for producing talented graduates.
Built on the foundation of decades of hard work and experience, AIM is open to all who wish to pursue their ambition of a career in the industry, placing excellence within reach of everyone.
It is no accident that some of Australia’s biggest talents have passed through our doors on their way to bright futures. Current Australian Idol success Casey Donovan, the Tankstream Quartet and violinist Nikki Vasilakis are just a few of the names you are undoubtedly familiar with.
Our Faculty of Audio Technology is based at one of Australia’s most advanced recording facilities, Q Recording Studios. Some of the best music to ever come out of Australia, including albums by INXS, You Am I, Cold Chisel, Spiderbait and Grinspoon have been recorded here.
AIM is an independent, non-profit, senior secondary and tertiary educational institution located on two main campuses in Sydney’s central business district. We are Australia’s largest private music institution and we teach skills for employment across the entire music industry, including performers, music producers, composers and audio engineers.
AIM offers award courses in all aspects of the music, entertainment and performing arts professions, a wide range of postgraduate courses, professional development and young musicians programs. There is a range of courses on offer to allow for entry at different education levels – from HSC through to Masters.
