About Southern Cross University

Southern Cross University (SCU) You are now leaving Going to Uni Southern Cross University is an Australian public university, proud of the quality of its graduates, awards, and research achievements.  Southern Cross University has more than 15,000 students studying on its campuses and through education collaborations within Australia and 60 countries around the world.

Established under its own Act of Parliament, it is a full member of the nearly 500 strong global Association of Commonwealth Universities, through which the University furthers its international relationships and educational aims.

Areas of teaching specialisation include tourism, business and information technology, environmental science and management, education, the humanities, legal and justice studies and the creative and performing arts.  Research strengths include plant genetics, biofuels, change innovation and organisational development, and health promotion and disease prevention.

Our vibrant, regional campuses are situated on the east coast of Australia at Lismore, Coffs Harbour and Tweed Heads, with a new campus being developed at the southern end of the Gold Coast to open in 2010.

Southern Cross University also operates The Hotel School Sydney, in partnership with Mulpha Australia.

Flexible delivery options assist students to balance busy live.  Many courses are offered by distance education, with an online study environment that strives to promote a collaborative community and creates a rich interactive education experience.

More than 3,000 postgraduate students undertake their degrees with Southern Cross University across a broad suite of disciplines.  The Doctor of Business Administration program is one of the largest in Australia, attracting candidates from across the Asia-Pacific region.  Research degrees at Masters and PhD level are offered in our areas of research strength.

The University is named after the constellation of stars that appears in the night sky of the Southern Hemisphere and that also appear on the Australian flag.  it is a recognised and significant element in Australis's history associated with its move to establishing its national identity and is a fitting symbol for this progressive University.
