The University of the Sunshine Coast
, offers a quality educational experience. High-quality teaching staff, innovative programs and strong links with industry generate excellent employment outcomes, while student support services help students to achieve and enjoy their studies. USC received top marks in the 2008 Good Universities Guide, including five-star ratings for teaching quality, staff qualifications and electronic support, and four stars for employment outcomes, academic services and graduate satisfaction.
USC students can choose from more than 100 programs and almost 400 courses in the faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, Business, and Science, Health and Education. Designed to produce work-ready graduates, the programs teach the skills required for career success. Students also have opportunities to learn from industry practitioners, and can incorporate ‘real-world’ workplace experiences into their study by participating in internships, industry-based projects and work experience.
USC is committed to regional, national and international issues, with academic courses and research initiatives reflecting this local-global connection. USC has partnerships with more than 70 universities and institutions around the world, and students are encouraged to study overseas through the University’s GO (Global Opportunities) Program.
Located on the edge of the Mooloolah River National Park, the University’s 100-hectare campus at Sippy Downs is a flora and fauna sanctuary. Distinctive in design, the award-winning buildings and facilities on campus offer the latest in technology and learning resources.
Number of Available Higher Education Places
In 2008, USC has been allocated 3,862 Commonwealth Supported Places (EFTSL).
National Priority Places
Since 2004, USC has received 165 new places (EFTSL) in nursing, and had 180 undergraduate places and 10 non-research postgraduate places available in 2007.
Since 2004, USC has received 205 new places (EFTSL) in teaching, and had over 120 undergraduate places and 200 non-research postgraduate places available in 2007. In 2008, USC will receive 15 new places (EFTSL) to support the introduction of a Graduate Diploma of Special Education, rising to 26 places in this course in 2009.
Additional support will be provided for areas identified by the Australian Government as National Priorities. Teaching and nursing have been identified as initial key areas of National Priority, to ensure an adequate supply of high quality graduates for Australia’s schools and hospitals. The figures above refer to additional National Priority places only and do not indicate the total number of nursing or teaching places offered by this provider.
