About the University of South Australia

The University of South Australia (UniSA)You are now leaving Going to Uni is a modern, flexible and successful University with a rich history and is committed to educating professionals; creating and applying knowledge; serving the community; maintaining cultural diversity amongst its staff and students; and providing equitable access to education for greater numbers of people.

UniSA was founded on 1 January 1991 through the amalgamation of the South Australian Institute of Technology and the Magill, Salisbury and Underdale campuses of the South Australian College of Advanced Education. However it traces its history back to some of the earliest and most influential educational institutions in South Australia, dating back to the nineteenth century.

Since then, UniSA has quickly earned a reputation as a national leader in collaborative research, has been recognised nationally for innovation in teaching and has South Australia's largest intake of international students. In this way, UniSA continues to build on the long-standing traditions of its antecedent institutions.

Our research profile, teaching and learning approach, focus on strategic partnerships, entrance policies and commitment to Indigenous education and reconciliation contribute to UniSA’s distinctive profile. Our focus is on strategic, basic and applied research in multidisciplinary teams and the commercialisation of intellectual property.

Our teaching and learning approach emphasises flexible programs, student-centred learning, online delivery and the achievement of graduate qualities. In all that we do, throughout the institution, we are committed to forming working partnerships and collaborations with other education organisations, business, industry and government.
