About the Melbourne Institute of Business & Technology (MIBT)

Melbourne Institute of Business & Technology (MIBT) You are now leaving Going to Uni provides high quality Certificate and Diploma courses in the areas of Commerce, Computing, Engineering, Health Sciences, Management, Media and Communication, and Science. MIBT Diploma courses are offered in association with Deakin University.  Diploma courses are conducted on Deakin University's Melbourne Campus at Burwood and the Geelong Campus at Waurn Ponds (refer to individual courses for location).

MIBT and Deakin University have been associated since the Institute’s inception in 1996. The association between the two institutions is designed to offer students an alternative pathway to university studies.

Quality teaching, outstanding facilities and academic and welfare support services for all students are central to MIBT’s educational philosophy.

MIBT Advantages

    • MIBT students have access to the full range of services and facilities available on Deakin University campuses.
    • On successful completion of a Diploma and meeting University academic progression criteria students are eligible to enter second year of the relevant Deakin University Bachelor degree.
    • The standard duration of a Diploma is 12 months, however students may fast track their studies and complete a Diploma in eight months.
    • MIBT offers three semesters within one calendar year. Semesters commence in March, June and October.
    • If additional English language and academic support is required whilst undertaking a MIBT course, students may join the "Academic Support" class. This free class assists students in study and writing skills, assignment preparation and examination technique.
    • The benefits of study at MIBT are the small class sizes. Lectures contain an average of 45 students.
    • In keeping with its supportive approach MIBT provides four hours per unit instead of the traditional three hours in first year university.
