About the University of Ballarat

The University of Ballarat (UB) You are now leaving Going to Uni is one of Australia's newest and most progressive universities, with a history of providing tertiary education and training reaching back more than 130 years.  It is pre-eminently a regional institution, with three major campuses in Ballarat and one each in Horsham, Stawell and Ararat.  UB also has a national and international focus and is actively building extensive partnerships and strategic alliances beyond its immediate region.  Our vision is to be held in the highest regard by our students, staff and the communities we serve for the responsive and rigorous character of all our engagements and endeavours.

UB aspires to achieve national and international standing for the high quality and relevance of its teaching, research, and engagement with industry, the professions, and the communities it serves.  The University is proud of the value that it has provided through its learning, teaching and research to its students and its regional and rural communities.  UB is distinctive as a regionalInsitution that provides Higher Education, TAFE and technical programs, with the totality of its services enriched by the equal and complementary role of each of the sectors.  The University is commited both to tertiary and secondary education, as is shown by the recent opening of UB Tec, the University's new Technical Education Centre catering for senior secondary school students.

UB’s mission is to promote the growth and well-being of individuals, organisations and communities in our part of Australia and beyond, through education, training, research and partnerships.  In undertaking our work at UB, we value effort and excellence, integrity, service to one another and to our communities, learning throughout life, promotion of diversity, and purposeful change.
