Whitehouse Institute of Design, AustraliaYou are now leaving Going to UniThe Whitehouse Institute of Design, Australia was established in 1988 and has campuses centrally located in both Sydney and Melbourne CBD’s.  In 2010 the Whitehouse Institute celebrates 22 years of Design Education and is a leading Australian privately owned design institution. 

Offering a unique learning environment that develops design, technical and visual communication skills across all mediums.  Establishing sound management skills dealing in commercial realism, with an on emphasis the importance of teacher/student consultation.

The Bachelor of Design program offers core design subjects and specialisations in Fashion Design, Interior Design or Styling and Creative Direction. These disciplines are taught through integrated and specialist strands of study; Design Context, Design Communications, Design Methods and Design Synthesis.

This three year degree course is underpinned by a learning culture supporting innovation and creativity built on academic discipline; providing a sound design education that fosters personal growth and the establishment of an individual design identity.

Minimum Entrance Requirements

Entry into the Bachelor of Design is based on academic performance and creative potential. Academic requirements are to be submitted with the application and differ depending on the category of applicant. All applicants residing in Australia are required to present a creative portfolio in an interview (remote students may submit their creative portfolio digitally and participate in a phone interview).  

  • Year 12 level of education or equivalent
  • ATAR or ENTER score of 65 or above, OP score of 16 or better, or equivalent – this is recommended but not essential*
  • Creative portfolio of 6 – 8 recent pieces of own design work and completed assessment task – no larger than A3 
  • Personal statement/resume with work history or other supporting documentation to assist with assessment of application

*Applicants who do not achieve academic minimum may be required to complete literacy assessment or literacy workshop. Participation does not guarantee admission to the degree program, but can be used as evidence of recent study in combination with the portfolio/personal statement.

Overseas students are subject to the same entry requirements as domestic students, however must also provide evidence of having achieved an English standard of IELTS 6 or TOEFL 227 and be aged 18 or above at the time of application.
