Qualifications & fields of education

Overview

As a student, you have a wide variety of choices in the higher education sector in Australia. Before you apply for a course you will need to make some important decisions regarding your future studies.

You will need to determine:

  • the level of qualification
Example: Graduate diploma, undergraduate degree etc.

  • field, area or course of study
    Example: Architecture, Geology etc.
You may choose a field of study based on your:

  • favourite subjects
  • interests or hobbies
  • career path and life goals.
You will probably find that the course you want to study:

  • has different specialisations or streams that may interest you
  • is offered by several higher education providers (providers) in Australia.
Once you've decided on your field of study, you will be able to narrow down your list of providers. You will need to consider the provider’s entry requirements, as each provider and each course has its own requirements.

This section has been designed to assist you with understanding the range of qualifications and fields of education available to you.
