Application process
You must make an application for an Indigenous Staff Scholarship to the Indigenous Higher Education Advisory Council (IHEAC) via DEEWR on the prescribed application form.

All eligible applications will be forwarded to the IHEAC for assessment. The IHEAC will advise the Minister on the applicants it considers suitable.

Selection policy
The ISS will be awarded by the Minister. Your application will be assessed on the extent to which you have:
- actively encouraged Indigenous students to participate in and complete higher education programmes
- demonstrated leadership on Indigenous issues within the higher education sector.
Additional criteria for assessment of applications for the ISSs may be published in the scholarship guidelines from time to time.

Offer of an ISS
If you are successful, you will receive a Letter of Offer from the Minister for an ISS.

Letter of Acceptance
You must sign a Letter of Acceptance. The letter of acceptance will be attached to the letter of offer from the Minister and is to be signed by the successful applicant and returned to DEEWR. If you accept an ISS, then you are also agreeing to the conditions of the ISS.
