To be eligible for an Indigenous Staff Scholarship (ISS), you must meet all the following requirements.

| Indigenous person |
To be eligible for an ISS, you must be:
- of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person and be accepted as such by the community in which you live or have lived.
You must provide one of following documents as evidence of being Indigenous:
- an affirmation signed by you, declaring that you identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, and
- confirmation in writing with the corporate seal from the chairperson of the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander incorporated organisation in a community in which you live or have previously lived.

| Employed with an eligible provider |
You must be employed as an academic or general staff member by an eligible provider. Your employer will be known as ‘the employing provider’ for the purpose of the ISS Programme.

Full time student
|
You must be enrolled as a full-time student at a higher education provider.
A full-time study load is as defined by your provider.

Letter of Support
|
You must submit a Letter of Support from your employing provider. The Letter of Support must include an undertaking that your employing provider will hold your position of employment for 12 months while you study full-time.
Your employer must provide an undertaking that it will hold your position even if you:
- change your course of study, or
- transfer to another provider for your studies since accepting the ISS.
