Maximum duration
The maximum duration of an Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) is:
- three years for Research Doctorate degrees
- two years for Research Masters degrees.
Reduced duration
The duration of your IPRS will be reduced by any periods where you study for your degree:
- prior to the commencement of the IPRS, or
- during a deferral of your IPRS.
Example: You may receive funding from another source that covers your tuition fees for a period of time and therefore you do not require an IPRS for that period.

If you are receiving an IPRS from one provider and need to change to another due to exceptional circumstances, then you may be able to continue to receive your scholarship. This is possible only if both providers agree to the change.

- Research Doctorate degree to a Research Masters degree.

Exception: You may be granted an extension if the change of research area is due to circumstances outside your control.
Your provider will make the final decision on any request for change of research area.

- your student visa permits you to do so

Work commitments are not accepted as grounds for an extension of the IPRS

Exception: your IPRS has been suspended for a period
- the provider determines that you are not carrying out the course of your study with competence and diligence or you have committed serious midconduct
