Ongoing eligibility
Your higher education provider (provider) will assess your ongoing eligibility for a:
- Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarship (CECS) - twice each year before a payment will be made for each half of the year
- Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarship (CAS) - twice each year before a payment will be made for each half of the year
- Indigenous Access Scholarship (IAS) – Assessment will be made upon application
- Indigenous Enabling Scholarship (IES) – twice a year before a payment will be made for each half of the year (if your enabling course is one year in duration)
- Associate Degree Scholarship (ADS) - twice each year before a payment will be made for each half of the year.
Your provider may demand satisfactory academic progress for your scholarship to continue. Satisfactory progress is determined by the provider.

Suspension of a Commonwealth Scholarship (CS)
Contact your provider if you need to suspend your Commonwealth Scholarship (CS) for a period. Your provider will make the final decision on your request based on its own policy on suspensions.

Transfer of a CS to another provider
If you are receiving CS support from one provider and decide to transfer to another provider, then you will have to re-apply for a CS at your new provider. You must declare any previous CS support that you have received when you change provider. CS are not transferable between providers.

Termination of a CS
Your provider will terminate your CS:
- if you cease to meet the ongoing eligibility requirements, or
Exception: This condition is waived if the scholarship is deferred for a period.
- if it determines that you have failed to maintain satisfactory academic progress or you have committed serious misconduct.
You will no longer receive a CS once the full duration of four years for your scholarship(s) has been reached.

Please be aware that providing false information to gain a CS is a criminal offence.
