How much can I borrow?

Eligible people may borrow up to the FEE-HELP limit to pay their tuition fees. Subject to the passage of legislation, from 1 January 2007, the FEE-HELP limit will be $80,000 for all courses except medicine, veterinary science and dentistry, for which the FEE-HELP limit is $100,000. In 2006, the FEE-HELP limit was $50,950. The increased FEE-HELP limit applies to all eligible students, regardless of when they commenced their studies.

As a person uses FEE-HELP to pay tuition fees, the amount they may borrow in future is reduced. Once a person has borrowed an amount equal to the FEE-HELP limit, they will not be able to receive FEE-HELP to pay tuition fees. This applies even if a person has partially or fully repaid their FEE-HELP loan.
