What is an eligible unit of study?

An eligible unit of study is a subject or unit which:

• is part of a course of study leading to a higher education award with an approved higher education provider;
• is made available by a higher education provider, access to which is provided through Open Universities Australia (see Open Universities Australia students); or
• is part of bridging study for overseas-trained professionals (see Bridging study for overseas-trained professionals).

You may also be eligible for FEE-HELP if you are undertaking an accredited enabling course that will allow you to meet the requirements for entry into a course of study leading to a higher education award. Your provider can advise you if your enabling course is eligible for FEE-HELP.

Courses of study which require a student to undertake research that leads to a higher education award such as a Doctor of Philosophy or Masters degree are eligible for FEE-HELP.
 
Courses accredited as a vocational and technical education and training (VTE) course are not eligible for FEE-HELP.
