Important dates for students who are eligible for FEE-HELP

You must submit your Request for FEE-HELP assistance form to your higher education provider on or before the census date (or the earlier date set by your provider/Open Universities Australia) for the first unit of study for which you wish to obtain FEE-HELP.

Your provider may set an earlier date for the submission of the form and payment of any up-front tuition fees. You should check this with your provider. You must ensure that you meet this deadline otherwise your provider may charge you a late fee or cancel your enrolment.

Submitting the Request for FEE-HELP assistance form is your responsibility. If you do not submit your completed form to your provider by the required date you will not be able to obtain a FEE-HELP loan to pay your tuition fees.

You should make any changes to your enrolment by the end of the census date, as this is the date you incur your debt to the Australian Government.

If you are entitled to FEE-HELP, the Australian Government will pay the unpaid amount of your tuition fee for a unit of study as at the end of the census date for the unit and you will incur a HELP debt for that amount.

Your higher education provider is required to have published the census dates for all of its units of study. For further information about census dates, see When is the closing date for requesting FEE-HELP?
