What are the benefits of being a Commonwealth supported student?

The main benefits of being Commonwealth supported are:

  • the Commonwealth contributes substantially to the cost of your education;
  • the Commonwealth limits the student contribution that your higher education provider can charge you;
  • you may be eligible for HECS-HELP assistance for your student contribution;
  • you may be eligible for a Commonwealth Scholarship; and
  • you may be eligible for an OS-HELP loan to assist you to undertake study overseas.

For information on Commonwealth Scholarships and OS-HELP, ask your higher education provider or see our scholarships information and OS-HELP information.
