What is a CHESSN?

As a Commonwealth supported student, you will be allocated a Commonwealth Higher Education Student Support Number (CHESSN).  The CHESSN is a unique identifier that will remain with you.  It will help higher education providers and the Australian Government to provide information to you about your Student Learning Entitlement, HECS-HELP assistance, and some other forms of Commonwealth assistance for higher education.

You can use your CHESSN to access myUniAssist  (see Department of Education, Science and Training). On myUniAssist, you can check the amount of Commonwealth assistance you have received since 1 January 2005, including the usage of your Student Learning Entitlement.
