Employer reserved place: a place made available under a restricted access arrangement between the provider offering the course and an employer or industry body, which limits or restricts enrolments in some or all of the places in the course to students sponsored by the employer.
Enabling course: a course of instruction that enables a person to undertake a course leading to a higher education award. Note: Not included as an enabling course is a vocational education and training course. See: What is an eligible unit of study?
Equivalent full-time student load (EFTSL): one EFTSL is a measure of the study load, for a year, of a student undertaking a course of study on a full time basis.
Exchange programme: the reciprocal exchange of domestic students with overseas students, which is covered by a formal agreement between the Australian higher education provider and an overseas higher education institution that allows students to pay for their study under the regime that applies in their home country.
Exemption Scholarship: a scholarship that may be awarded to you by a higher education provider. It exempts you from paying all student contribution amounts or tuition fees for a course of study. See: Other scholarship information

FEE-HELP: a loan scheme to help eligible non-Commonwealth supported (fee-paying) students pay their tuition fees. See: FEE-HELP
FEE-HELP balance: the amount of FEE-HELP that you may access at a given point in time. The FEE-HELP balance is the FEE-HELP limit minus the amount of FEE-HELP that you have used. See: FEE-HELP
FEE-HELP limit: the maximum amount that you can borrow under FEE-HELP over your lifetime. See: FEE-HELP
Fee-paying place: a place that is occupied by a fee-paying student. It is also known as a non-Commonwealth supported place. See: Eligibility requirements
Fee-paying student: a domestic student who is not Commonwealth supported for a unit of study. Fee-paying students pay tuition fees. Fee-paying students are also known as ‘non-Commonwealth supported students’. See: Fee-paying students - tuition fees

HECS-HELP: a scheme that includes a discount for up-front payment and loans to help eligible Commonwealth supported students pay their student contributions. See: HECS-HELP
HECS-HELP discount: an amount paid by the Government to your provider when you make, on or before the census date, a full up-front payment or partial up-front payment of $500 or more of your student contribution for units of study with the same census date. Higher Education Loan Programme: a loan programme to help eligible students pay student contributions (HECS-HELP), tuition fees (FEE-HELP) and overseas study expenses (OS-HELP). See: Paying for your studies (HELP loans)
